I think "finding yourself" is more about shedding the things about you that are not real--the fake butt-kissing, the feigned concern for the environment, the alleged shock over controversial statements (these are examples of course). Introspection is hard--but I agree that the only way to find yourself is to lose yourself in Christ. Let Him be the actual person using you to do wonderful works.

Marcy--I love those verses. I love all verses in the Bible that seem to say the exact opposite of what the world would have you believe. It highlights the fact that our home is not Earth and we are aliens in this land indeed.

Enough for today-I'm swamped at work--still praying for you buddy-hope all is well.

Sometimes I just loathe introspection. I want to fix my eyes elsewhere. Not to ignore my sin and my need to repent but when I do repent to move on and look to someone (Christ) and something besides myself. Still praying for you my friend...

Today I was just reading the Luke version of Jesus talking about finding and losing and saving lives. He says you have to deny yourself to follow him, that if you try to save your life you'll lose it, if you lose it for him you'll gain it, and it's no profit to gain the world and lose yourself.

Confusing.
